NZWTS Bi-Annual Blind Tasting Competition #3
Monday 2nd November, 2026 - 6:30pm – 9:30pm - Caro’s Grey Lynn
Here's what you're walking into
The competition
The format is simple. The wines aren't. A curated blind flight, scored and ranked, with no room to bluff your way through
Community & networking
The person next to you might be a winemaker. Or a sommelier. Or someone who just really, really loves wine. Either way, you're in good company
Prizes & glory
There are prizes. But honestly, the bragging rights last longer.
It's genuinely fun
We've said all the serious stuff. The truth is it's also just a really good Monday night — wine, food, good people, and the occasional very confident wrong answer.
No labels. No hints. Just you, a glass, and your best guess
1. Arrive and settle in
Walk into one of Auckland's great wine spaces, grab a glass, and meet the room. The competition doesn't start until 6:30pm — the conversation starts now.
2. The flights begin
The glasses are poured. The labels are nowhere to be seen. From here it's just you, your senses, and a tasting sheet. No phoning a friend.
4. Rinse and repeat
Down or dump your glasses, revisit wines if you want but there’s two more rounds to go.
3. The reveal
The moment of truth. Wines are named, scores are read out, and somewhere in the room someone is very quietly (or not) delighted with themselves.
5. Prizes & glory
The top scorers take home something to remember the night by. Everyone else takes home a slightly more refined palate and a list of wines to track down.
